The Basics of "The Start of A New Era" (Working Title)

The Insurgo Grand Council has been far too corrupt for far too long. This is evident as the Council tries to control the average life of an Insurgo, even though that is not their purpose. They are willing to do anything to keep power- even slaughter those who dare to stand against them.

Alexius Popescu-Cavanaugh (Lexi Popescu for short) is the sixteen year old  daughter of the two primary leaders of the Resistance movement. Ever since her parents were executed on the Council's orders when she was eight, she knew she had to continue on with their movement. But there's another thing Lexi must come to terms with: she is the Prolis Millennium, latin for child of the millennium. (Most people call her the Millennial). There is only one Millennial born every thousand years. The child is always born the same way- on the summer solstice shortly before the turn of the millennium. The Millennial is the most powerful Insurgo on the planet- kind of. Lexi has certainly met quite a few roadblocks on her way.

But wait, what the heck is an Insurgo you ask? Insurgos are the people who are different- they have different abilities than the average person. Different, but not always better. The Insurgo Society dates back thousands of years. Back to a time when people were far more superstitious than they are today. It was merely a couple centuries ago when witch hunts were a regular thing. Unfortunately, the targets were often Insurgo. It was not a couple of centuries ago that the Insurgo decided to act. It was approximately 600 years ago that the Insurgo realized that they had to band together if they were to survive the terrifying witch hunts. Because of their fear, the Insurgo Grand Council was formed. The Council's purpose was merely to protect Insurgo who were in danger of being attacked by their fellow townspeople. The Council would go in, remove the Insurgo, and toy with the townspeople's minds so that the Insurgo was never even remembered. The Insurgo would then be relocated to a safe new location.

With the downfall of the false accuistations of witchcraft, the need for the Council also fell. The Council had become accustomed to being worshipped by the Insurgo people, however, and they refused to lose their power. So they began terrorizing the Insurgo people, threatening families, and bribbing supporters. It was a long time before anyone decided to stand up and do something about it: they were all too afraid.

Now Lexi must organize the Resistance- a worldwide group of pro-freedom, anti-Council supporters- into a force that can take down the Council before everyone she loves, and everything she knows is destroyed.

That's the basic gist of it. I'll be posting more about Lexi, the Resistance members, the Council members, and everyone caught in between later. Feel free to comment with your reactions to the basic storyline.
